Mission
Did you know that some people in Japan
don’t always have positive feelings toward tourists?
When too many visitors gather in famous spots,
local residents sometimes struggle.
Properties are sometimes sold mostly to foreign buyers.
Of course,
this is not the fault of tourists alone.
But every time I hear Japanese people complain about visitors,
I feel sad… and a little apologetic.
Japan is a country we are truly proud of.
And Japanese people, as many of you say,
are warm and kind.
実は、日本の中には
観光客に対してあまり良い感情を持っていない人がいることを
知っていますか？
人気の観光地に人が集中し、
そこで暮らしている人たちが困ってしまうこともあります。
不動産が外国人にばかり売れてしまうこともあります。
もちろん、それは観光客の皆さんだけの責任ではありません。
でも、日本人が外国人観光客について
不満を口にしているのを聞くたびに、
私はとても残念で、少し申し訳ない気持ちになります。
日本は、世界に誇れる本当に素晴らしい国です。
そして、日本人は世界中の人が言ってくれるように、
温かくて思いやりのある人たちです。
